We are always looking for new members to the group who have an interest in protecting the natural environment that we all love. The meetings start at 7pm and are usually finished at 9pm so, if you have thought about joining the group, try to make at least one meeting during the year. Contact President David on 54939695 for an further information.. Weeding in Kathleen McArthur Park also known as Currimundi Conservation Park located at the north-eastern of Currimundi Lake. | March 4 | Clean Up Australia Day - Nicklin Way and Wurtulla Parks. Everyone is invited to help clean up both sides of Nicklin Way (north-south) from Moondarra Drive to the Currimundi Markets shopping centre and (east-west) through Crummunda Park and Noel Burns Park along Currimundi Lake. Anyone with a kayak is also very welcome to help collect rubbish from the banks of the lake.. Please register from 9am onwards at the table near the playground in Crummunda Park to collect your bags before heading off to begin the clean up. All rubbish collected from the road and the parks helps to keep our waterways cleaner and every little bit makes a difference. The Clean up finishes at 11.30am with a BBQ for volunteers in Crummunda Park. This is a great opportunity for the local community to work together to make a difference to the waterways along Currimundi Lake. Bring hat, gloves, enclosed shoes and a water bottle and enjoy the great outdoors for a few hours. For further information, contact Kaye on 54388267 or visit www.cleanup.org.au | ||||||

"6 Knots - No Wash" Publicity Campaign: Wave wash caused by speeding boats contributes to the erosion of the banks along Currimundi Lake and is even more severe along Currimundi Creek. The wash hits the sandy coffee-rock banks and undercuts them. The roots of huge beautiful trees become exposed and eventually they topple into the water. For the third year, CCCG organises a publicity campaign to inform motor boat users that the speed limit is 6 knots - no wash. No Wash means No Wash! A council leaflet Boating in Currimundi Lake will be delivered to all homes along the waterways. Again, we are hoping for many local residents to support of this campaign and to remind visitors of the need to slow down on the waterways. Committee Christmas Party |
